The Departments of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Electrical Engineering (EE) at the University of Washington announce the creation of the UW Experimental Computer Engineering Lab (ExCEL) an exciting new entity that will encourage and facilitate broad collaboration between the departments along the computer engineering boundary. To energize this new lab, we expect at least six new hires in computer engineering by our two departments over the next several years, starting with two positions open immediately. These positions will have joint appointments in CSE and EE, although each will have a primary home in one of the two departments. The new hires will add significant new talent to our existing strong computer engineering faculty. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to): atomic scale devices and computational systems, biologic devices and biocomputation, implantable medical systems, technologies for the developing world, single-chip multiprocessing and parallelism, and future network systems.
